BioShock 4 Will Take Place In A "New And Fantastical World," Suggests Job Listing

It looks like BioShock 4 may not be taking place in Rapture or Columbia after all. A new report now suggests that the latest entry in the iconic series will instead take place in a “new and fantastical world,” if recent job listings are to be believed.

This info comes by way of Twitter user MauroNL3, who recently pointed out that Cloud Chamber, the studio behind BioShock 4, has a bunch of job listings hinting at what to expect from the new game. Said listings specifically ask for experience with Unreal Engine 4 as well as experience in scripted cinematic sequences, while the listings also mention that the game will feature a “new and fantastical world.”

We want you to help us breathe life into a new and fantastical world,” some of the job listings read. “Together, we will set the stage for a stunning narrative and systems-driven experience.” The latter statement has BioShock written all over it, as do some of the other blurbs further into some of the listings. A listing for a senior cinematic artist brings up “Wes Anderson-like precision and panache in your camera positioning and movements,” while a listing for a principal combat designer seeks out those that “look beyond direct conflict” to “accommodate various play-styles and design encounters that can be resolved through player ingenuity.”

Even if BioShock 4 will be taking place in a brand new location, based on what we’re seeing here the title will still have all the hallmark features of the franchise’s previous entries. BioShock 4 is currently in development.
