City Of Gangsters Prohibition Sim Announced (VIDEO)
Gamescom 2020 has provided fans with plenty to enjoy, including new trailers for games like Ostranauts and The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. That said, gamers have seen a renewed interest in prohibition-era stories, seen in series like the Mafia games, and now it seems that a new prohibition sim is coming in the form of City of Gangsters.
SomaSim and Kasedo Games released their new City of Gangsters trailer as a part of Gamescom 2020. In the game, players will start their criminal empire from nothing in a key prohibition city like Chicago. The player’s run will begin in 1920 and progress towards 1933, when alcohol returns to being legal. Check out a bit of the action for yourself in the trailer below:
Players will grow their criminal enterprise through a variety of methods, including finding new technologies, making new connections through networking and venturing into secondary legitimate businesses. The trailer also shows bribing crooked cops and pushing in on rival territory are likely to be involved in strategies as well. Developer SomaSim is best known so far for their tower simulation game Project Highrise, and it is expected that some similar systems will be used for City of Gangsters.
City of Gangsters is set to arrive some time next year, but it is not yet known for which gaming platforms outside of Steam. Project Highrise released for a variety of consoles, PC platforms and mobile devices, so it is likely that this game will come to those devices as well. The prohibition era is certainly an interesting time in our nation’s history to set a simulation game around, and SomaSim definitely seems like the right fit for such a game.
