CD Projekt Red Talks Cyberpunk 2077 Development – “Really F**king Badass”
CD Projekt Red held a financial results conference to go over what the company has in store for the future. Within the conference, they held a Q&A in which they opened up ever so slightly about Cyberpunk 2077 development. So far, the company has been very tight lipped about any information about the upcoming title. Executive Producer John Mamais summed it up quite when he said:
“I can’t tell you shit. I can’t tell you anymore. My throat would be cut if I said anything about it. It’s going to be really, really, really fucking badass, I can tell you that much.”
While they can’t talk about the game itself, many personages of Projekt Red have said much of the same thing. Mamais made it clear that the game will be very ambitious but also stressed that they did not want to show anything until the game was ready. It’s an admirable thing, to not get fans hopes up and then let them down when things don’t work the way they initially intended. Marcin Iwinski also mentioned something similar in an interview, “we never want to brag about things before we have something to show.”
Cyberpunk 2077 will be an open world RPG with both a singleplayer and multiplayer. It will be set in a dystopian metropolis of the future where technology has become the salvation and curse of humanity. The game will be based off of a pen and paper RPG by the name of Cyberpunk 2020 created by designer Mike Pondsmith. Platforms for the game have yet to be announced but if Witcher 3 is anything to go by, players can hope that the game will appear on all platforms. It’s expected to release sometime between 2017 and 2021, so … there’s that.
