WATCH: Catherine: Full Body Trailer Hints At Transgender Love Interest For Vincent
It was recently announced by Japanese developer Atlus that its morality-charged puzzle platformer Catherine would be getting an updated release for both the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita, under the name Catherine: Full Body. The remaster will include extended scenes, new endings, and most importantly a third love interest for Vincent, which in itself adds new branches to the both the story and game mechanics. Things may not be all they same with love interest #3, though, as the latest Catherine: Full Body trailer hints that “Rin” may be hiding a secret. Check out the Full Body trailer below:
There is certainly a lot to see in the new trailer, some of which at the very least hints at the possibility that Vincent’s new love interest is transgender. The first hint we are given is in the form of the gender symbols that appear throughout the trailer, which in itself gives cause to wonder why they are there in the first place. Additionally, Rin is often shown lifting up her dress, though the image is always shot in such a way that the area below her waist cannot be seen. The name “Rin” also happens to be a gender-neutral name, adding more fuel for the fire.
All that aside, easily the most indicative hint that the Full Body trailer has to offer comes towards the end, when Vincent comes face to face with Rin’s crotch area and seems visibly surprised at what he sees. Fans of Catherine will have to wait until 2018 to find out whether or not Rin is harboring any secrets, or if Atlus is simply throwing us for a loop. Catherine: Full Body currently does not have a release date, though it is expected to arrive for the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita at some point in 2018.
