Turns Out Cappy Can Kill Mario In Super Mario Odyssey’s Multiplayer (VIDEO)

Mario’s newfound friend Cappy of Super Mario Odyssey has drawn the suspicions of many players. The anthropomorphic ghost-hat is capable of “capturing” various enemies and objects throughout the game, a useful and unique ability that’s given the game much praise since release. Nintendo may want to call it capturing but fans know that’s just a polite way to say possession, which makes Cappy a bit of a dark character. Super Mario Odyssey’s multiplayer mode further continues to cast suspicions on the sentient headwear and his tendencies for murder (that’s right, we went there).

A glitch has been recently discovered within the game in which Cappy is capable of “killing” Mario. As seen in the video below, after player one captures a piranha plant fromm the Luncheon Kingdom, player two is able to use Cappy to ground pound that same plant. This kills the plant and Mario who is still controlling it. Cappy can’t move very far away from Mario under normal circumstances and it seems without Mario in the space anymore, Cappy can only move in the area Mario was last seen. Thankfully Mario is able to respawn after fast travelling to another location, making his murder a thing of the past.

Fans have begun to come up with some dark theory’s about the new game, mostly around Cappy’s ability to capture other things. One theory suggests Mario himself is possessed by his ghost-hat friend while some fans believe Mario is a bad guy who uses the possession ability to possess human beings and control their actions on the streets of New Donk City. What other dark theories surround the latest Mario title?

Super Mario Odyssey has largely been a success since it’s release to the Nintendo Switch platform on October 27th of this year. With the ability to “capture” and then kill those beings, what dark purpose does Cappy hope to achieve?
