Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Confirmed For Gamescom Opening Night (VIDEO)

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

After quite a bit of speculation, Doritos leaks, and extended array of ARGs, the next entry in the Call of Duty series is set to be officially revealed as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Developed by series studios Treyarch and Raven Software, the title was informally confirmed through an intriguing teaser video early last week, with an official announcement event set for the next few days. With the event of Gamescom also arriving this week, it has now been confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will indeed appear during the event.

Hosting the opening night of Gamescom, Geoff Keighley confirmed the Cold War-era shooter will have “a world premiere new look” shown off during the proceedings. Specifically, the big event is set to start at 8 pm CEST / 2 pm ET / 11 am PT and appear alongside 38 other showings for the event. Clarified in another recent announcement, the likes of the next DOOM Eternal DLC, space battler Star Wars: Squadrons, and the Destiny 2: Beyond Light expansion are also getting showcases during the presentation.

Though there’s the obvious premise of the Cold War, there’s currently very little to glean what this new Call of Duty entry could be about. However, the past few months of rumors have offered some intriguing possibilities for the title, including that it could be a reboot for the whole Black Ops franchise and that behind-the-scenes challenges may have contributed to the game’s delayed reveal. It’s difficult to delve too deep into speculation with an official reveal event on the horizon, as we’ll know more either during Gamescom or perhaps even a teased Warzone event set for August 26th.
