Former Bungie Developer Shares Joke Destiny Fighting Game
While developers sink thousands of hours into creating the vast worlds gamers enjoy, they still need to find time to let loose and blow off some steam. Most importantly, it’s all about having fun. That said, former Bungie developer David Candland recently shared a Destiny fighting game that was created last year, and we sort of need it.
In Candland’s blog post showing off prototypes from recent years, the one that really stands out is the Destiny fighting game that was created during Bungie’s Carnival event in 2018. “I teamed up with a group of 8 talented people that wanted to see if we could build a functional but cheesey, over-the-top, retro style fighting game in the Destiny engine,” he said. “It had a lot of rough edges, but considering we built something like this in 4 days, and showed it off on the 5th is remarkable.”
The prototype that was created is called Destiny of Fighters: Super Turbo, and the video shared by the former Bungie dev features Ikora Rey and Lord Shaxx going toe-to-toe in two rounds of fisticuffs. As Candland stated, it’s certainly rough around the edges, but it looks like something that fans could have a lot of fun with. Especially if it was a fully developed fighting game featuring our favorite Destiny characters.
While we won’t be seeing a Destiny fighting game released anytime soon, we can all sit around and dream of such a thing. Check out the video showing the prototype right here.
