Destiny 2 Community Summit Hopes To Create A Better Future For The Game

Destiny 2 continues to receive updates and additional content despite the large community dissent, but that doesn’t mean Bungie wants to give up on their game. In fact, it’s a fight they mean to put up in hopes for a better future for the sequel. On the most recent This Week at Bungie (TWAB), community manager David “DeeJ” Dague revealed that Bungie headquarters in Bellevue will be holding a Destiny 2 Community Summit. This invite-only event will bring in renown influencers, streamers, and “leaders” of the community together, in an effort to ensure a successful game.

Our goals for this gathering are to get people from the community more involved in the way we make games, and to do that sooner in the creative process. We’ll be previewing some of the things we’re working on to gather feedback before they’re locked. Our guests will also play some things that you’ll get your hands on in the coming weeks. We’ve hosted community ambassadors before to see and capture new content, but this ain’t DRE (the Destiny Reveal Event). This gathering is more intimate and more tactical.”

He went on to explain that it simply isn’t possible to invite every community member or hopeful out there to the Destiny 2 Community Summit. They selected a diverse group of individuals with strong opinions, voices, and ideas and have a unique audience to boot from solo players, popular streamers, “lore lovers”, to general “hardcore elite”.

Apparently, there’s even a high school principal who was invited to keep everyone in check. Of course, there were plenty of skeptics out there. In order to address some of the naysayers, here’s what one Twitch streamer, DrLupo, had to say:

After all, this is a “new step” that Bungie is taking to become more transparent with the Destiny 2 community. They want to create a game that most people will enjoy playing and want to come back to. What do you think of a Destiny 2 Community Summit? Is this a good idea? Do you wish there was another way that Bungie could be more inclusive?
