Troy Baker Rejected Role As Rhys In Borderlands 3, Says Gearbox CEO

Borderlands 3 Rhys Troy Baker

The ongoing saga of Troy Baker returning as Rhys in Borderlands 3 has a new development. As many of you likely know, Baker recently revealed that he would not be reprising the role in the upcoming game, and he was disappointed that Gearbox hadn’t offered him the chance. However, according to Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, Baker was the one who turned down the opportunity to begin with.

In a recent string of tweets, Pitchford was asked if he would do an AMA on Reddit anytime soon. This prompted the Gearbox CEO to ask what sort of questions people have, which led to one fan asking why Baker wasn’t coming back as Rhys in Borderlands 3.

Unfortunately, as can be seen in the response above, it looks like our boy Rhys might not as significant of a role as we would like in Borderlands 3. In fact, as Pitchford implies, either Rhys isn’t featured that much at all in the title, or he possibly meets an unfortunate end. Either way, we’ll just have to wait until the highly-anticipated game arrives to find out for ourselves.

Borderlands 3 is set to drop on September 13th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
