Borderlands 3 Development Increased Significantly – About 90% of Gearbox Working on the Game

Borderlands 3 Development

With each passing day, that is one step closer to the release of Borderlands 3. Unfortunately, nobody knows when exactly that day will be. What we do know, however, is that Borderlands 3 development is underway, and by the way that Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford recently described it, that might be an understatement.

Speaking at the Inside Gearbox Software panel during this year’s PAX West, Pitchford mentioned that roughly 90% of the company’s team is working on the upcoming sequel. It has seemed that the closest thing fans have had to any kind of official word about the title has been a tech demo that was revealed earlier this year. They claimed that it wasn’t the game, but merely the same art style. After that, a listing popped up for the game just before E3, but it turned out to be false.

Needless to say, not much is know about the Borderlands 3 development progress at this time. However, this shouldn’t be a surprise if the game isn’t expected to arrive until next year. That is, of course if Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick was hinting at the highly-anticipated sequel in an interview from July. He mentioned how “a huge new title from 2K” is expected during the 2019 fiscal year, which runs from April 2018 to March 31, 2019.

All of this means that an official announcement could be on the horizon. If 90% of the Gearbox team is working on the title, it’s only a matter of time before they have something concrete to show fans. Maybe PlayStation Experience or The Game Awards will be the first events at which the initial footage is shown.
