Bluepoint Games Confirms Another Remake As Next Project
Bluepoint Games last month saw the release of the PS4 remaster of Shadow of the Colossus. The game remake done by the company was praised by both fans and critics alike, which is no surprise given that this particular niche is their specialty. Now it’s time for the developer to turn it attention to a new a project, which means … speculation time!
A recent conversation with Digital Foundry brought up the question of where they company will go from their success with Shadow of the Colossus. While the talented team could make make an original IP, President of Bluepoint Games, Marco Thrush, explained that simply isn’t the direction the company is headed.
Well, we could but we’re doing another remake. This project served us as a great point of growing the art team to the point where we can take on a full triple-A game major scope of art content. So now our next step is, let’s improve the art pipeline, let’s improve the engine, let’s improve workflow for artists, let’s grow on the art side some more to handle our next project because it’s a bit bigger. And our next focus is, all right, let’s work on design and add new stuff to get to the next remake, because now that can be our sole focus of making sure that’s where we put the time and everybody else, they’re already at a level where we can perform.”
There is also the rumor that Bluepoint will be heading a potential Demon’s Souls remake, especially given the fact that Altus USA just re-filed an ESRB rating for the PlayStation 3. That could simply be a move to protect against private servers – but when the speculation goes wild, you check every possible angle!
It’s not suprising that the company will be doing another remake but it is exciting nonetheless. What remake could Bluepoint be doing next that will be bigger and better than Shadow of the Colossus?
