Blizzard’s StarCraft Launches Series Of Brutal Tweets At Star Wars Battlefront II
Most fans have likely heard about EA’s decision to include restrictions on content with pay-to-play features and hours logged in order to unlock game aspects. It is no secret that users are not pleased with the decision, many requesting a refund of the game before it has even released. As if Star Wars Battlefront II wasn’t getting enough flack, Blizzard’s StarCraft chimed in recently with a series of brutal tweets.

Blizzard’s StarCraft tweets, meant to feature the recent free-to-play announcement made at BlizzCon, are also obvious digs at Battlefront II. The tweets were sent back to back, delivering a heavy blow to the developers. Accompanying the string of remarks are a series of videos featuring a father and son that seems to further attack EA’s decision.

Blizzard’s StarCraft tweets are quick to announce that they have no play-to-win features in their game, to which the video reinforces this idea humorously. The company wasn’t finished yet though, and released another video claiming “you should be playing a grown-up game”. While this isn’t the first time a company has gone after another in order to make their title look good, it may be the first time one has done it this well.

Many fans seemed to agree with Blizzard’s StarCraft tweets, responding to the tweets with gifs, memes, and overall support. Whether this marketing, aimed at taking advantage of a poor decision on EA’s part, will bear any fruit remains to be seen. It may, however, be what EA needs to reconsider their approach to the microtransaction model.
