Battlefield V: Details On Aim Assist, Weather Effects, Post-Launch Content, And More Revealed
Battlefield is still a couple months away from launch, but before then EA DICE and their developers are ready to answer some hot questions fans have. From “Dev Talks,” “Dev Takeovers,” or independent questions and answers session on social media from personal accounts, the hands behind the games are more than willing to respond. This includes queries on dynamic weather system, ballistic statistics, aim assist, combat roles, and much more. More importantly, what has improved in Battlefield V compared to its predecessors?
Up to bat is David Sirland, a DICE producer on multiplayer combat for Battlefield V. In response to the purpose and effects of the dynamic weather system on gameplay, he had this to say:
That’s not a visual effect, thats a server wide weather state. And it’s part of gameplay on regular Conquest and in some narrative modes (like airborne) it’s controlled even.
That doesn’t mean there isn’t options to control this for other modes, or experiences however.— David Sirland (@tiggr_) September 24, 2018
We rather make visibility proper good in the regular case, and have extreme weather be just that. There are very harsh limits on how often and how much that happens now, so the “normal” weather is what we’ll tune for visibility most.

If a weather state is night time, and snow storm – it’s part of the point to make certain things harder to see, or play differently. These extreme forms are not often occuring, and they don’t last for long. We are not after creating strain, or things like sandstorms of the past..

Aim assist is a hot question in terms of its appearance, but it seems that the feature will not make an appearance. On that, Sirland stated:
“Aim assist rotation” is getting removed (testing this right now on PS4) – but the Aim assist slowdown will remain for sure. All this pending testing goes well, and it seems to be,.

As for future content that comes post-launch for Battlefield V, more information will arrive as we inch closer to release date. According to the producer, there’s a lot planned:
Detail on content to come, everything from maps, weapons, vehicles etc will be coming as it gets near release of each. More important is that we the biggest live team we’ve ever assembled supporting this game, and it will show pretty fast what type of cadence to expect.
