Red Dead Redemption 2: PS4 Will Get Timed-Exclusive DLC

Red Dead Redemption 2 PS4 Timed Exclusive DLC

Our next tumble through the Old West is quickly approaching with the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, and Rockstar Games has unveiled a number of new details in preparation for the game’s impending launch. In addition to the game’s special editions, the sequel will also sport a special PlayStation 4 Pro bundle upon release, but that isn’t the only offer coming the way of PS4 owners.

As revealed by RockstarIntel, Rockstar appears to also have an exclusivity deal with Sony, where select downloadable content will land on the console a full 30 days before anyone else. The information doesn’t seem to be a secret either as it’s clearly printed on packaging for the previously-mentioned PS4 Pro bundle, which can be seen below.

While timed exclusivity is unfortunate for players on rival systems, a 30-day wait seems pretty preferable when compared to other exclusives that have lasted much longer. It also doesn’t look like all DLC will be affected either, as evidenced by the “select online content” phrasing.

One piece of content expected to make a multiplatform launch is the game’s debuting Red Dead Online, which will allow cowboys and cowgirls all over the world to randomly shoot stuff in the Old West. The multiplayer experience recently announced an open beta, which aims to go live shortly after Red Dead Redemption 2 releases for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26th.
