Bandai Namco Recruits Life is Strange Developer DONTNOD for New Narrative-Focused IP
In the modern wave of narrative-focused games, Life is Strange has certainly found a significant fanbase that celebrates its uniqueness. Its use of the Telltale Games style of narrative choices combined with time-rewinding mechanics and insight regarding important issues facing modern adolescents made the game something that spoke to a very passionate subset of the gaming audience. The game gained much critical and financial success, enough to warrant an upcoming prequel game, and now it looks like the team behind the game has a new IP in their future. Developer Dontnod Entertainment has now been recruited by Bandai Namco to develop a new game.
Bandai Namco made the exclusive announcement through MCV, in which they reveal their new partnership with Dontnod Entertainment. The partnership will revolve around a new idea that will debut as a game. Very little was disclosed in terms of what the game will be about, but we do know that it will take place in a fictional U.S. city, which can be seen above in concept art, and it will involve “a fair dose of investigation”. Bandai Namco did confirm that more information about the game including release date, platforms and more will be revealed in 2018.
Bandai Namco seemed to explain this new partnership by saying:
Dontnod was a kind of rough diamond – very much a rising star, I would say – and with the success of Life is Strange, it’s the first big player in terms of quality business model, vision, and we think that’s a good strategy that fits. It was the right moment, so we decided to partner [with them].”
Dontnod has given quite a riveting story with Life is Strange, and it will definitely be interesting to see their take will be like on a new set of characters. What do you guys think about this new game from Life is Strange developer Dontnod Entertainment? Let us know in the comments below!
