Baldur’s Gate 3 Devs Reveal First Community Update (VIDEO)
Fans are likely still reeling from the D&D-lightful announcement of Baldur’s Gate 3, the long-awaited RPG underway by acclaimed developers of Divinity: Original Sin 2, Larian Studios. Though the game was only recently divulged, the studio has now issued its first community update video, revealing a bit about their big-time plans, albeit in supremely goofy fashion.
In the video below, Larian director Swen Vincke can be seen teasing the various ins and outs of Baldur’s Gate 3, all while clad in over-the-top Medieval-style armor. Among further absurdity such as some Iron Flask shenanigans and discussions of D&D’s “secret sauce,” several details about the game were confirmed, including its reliance on player choice, deep roots in the Forgotten Realms lore, as well as a focus on the horrific Mind Flayers featured in the BG3’s reveal trailer. Check it out below.
Following this “more or less” retelling of Larian’s origins with Baldur’s Gate 3, the tone shifted to a slightly more serious note, where Vincke laid out their process for providing further updates in the future. The studio promised a continuous string of videos throughout development, where various new features and community feedback are set to be addressed. A news feed called the Larian Gazette was also unveiled as a spot for regular updates, it being run from the Divinity: Original Sin 2 Kickstarter page.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently in development and confirmed for release on PC.
