Atari Reveals Pre-Order Info, Price, And More Regarding Their New Console
It’s the age of Nostalgia and Atari is not willing to be left out in the dust. When they first announced the upcoming Atari VCS console, many were interested in its blend of classic and more modern style. Though we still have more questions regarding exactly what it will have to offer, we do at least have a price-point and release information to tide us over.
The exclusive wood-front collector’s edition, the Onyx model, and accessories are set to go live for pre-ordering on May 30th at $199. For this particular model, the pre-purchase must go through the folks over at Indigogo, as this swanky edition is exclusive to them. It’s perfect for those that want that classic wood paneling in addition to the modern upgrade. There is also the Onyx edition, which is the pure black style that provides a more up-to-date aesthetic.
“We continue moving forward on the Atari VCS project and are excited to see this pre-sale kickoff and to share more updates with our fans as we look toward the first shipments,” notes Michael Arzt, Atari COO of Connected Devices. “We are building outstanding teams and forging alliances that will make this product great and truly worthy of the Atari VCS name. Expert hardware partners are helping make this project possible and we couldn’t be more pleased with their contributions.”
We know that there will be over 100 classic games available on the entertainment system, including Asteroids, Centipede, Missile Command, and more, though we don’t have the full list of games at this time. Atari promises that the entire library will be revealed soon, so stay tuned!
