Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Includes Dismemberment, Sex
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey figures to steer the franchise in a fresh new direction. Players will choose their character’s gender, who they want to seduce, and the nobility of their character. All of these decisions will have a lasting impact on your playthrough. Odyssey is the franchise’s largest world to date, and players will finally have more variety in their missions. The ESRB’s description of the game adds a bit more flavor to Ubisoft’s next title.
On August 10, the ESRB released its rating summary of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. We’ve come to expect much of the content; blood, swords, and bad words are old hat for the series. However, a few of the juicier details add intrigue to the game.

I am fairly certain we’ve seen dismemberment in an AC game previously, but I can’t recall any concrete examples. (Apart from Bayek losing his finger in Assassin’s Creed Origins, that is.) Ubisoft may have taken more inspiration from The Witcher 3 than a complex choice system after all. It should be noted that it doesn’t appear Alexios or Kassanandra will be doing any of the limb chopping themselves. Still, this newfound level of intensity reflects the Spartan world and all of its brutality. The line “young characters thrown off a cliff” could be absolutely heartbreaking, based on some often believed myths.
As for the sexual material, we already knew that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was going to feature much more romance than in previous installments. Ubisoft has upped the quantity while remaining true to its roots. Scenes still cut away before depicting the act itself. The frequency in which this happens, however, may double any previous AC game. It seems like director Scott Phillips has taken some inspiration from his Saints Row days, though a dildo sword seems unlikely.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey launches on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 5. Players can preorder the game for any platform now, which grants early access three days early.
