Agony Unrated Suddenly Appears On Steam

Without a shadow of a doubt, Madmind Studios has been through their fair share of ordeals regarding their controversial property titled Agony. Unfortunately, the game wasn’t as widely received as many had hoped. Despite the gory and raw visuals and storyline, many reviews on Steam downvoted the game for various reasons including unplayable controls, compromised graphics, and overall buggy gameplay. Many reviews griped about the lack of an uncensored patch that was promised (cancellation in fact), but it seems were legal issues held the team back.

As seen on the front page of the studio’s website, a straight-forward letter addresses prying eyes on the whereabouts of the development team. The wave of feedback, complaints, and questions from fans are being heard, but a wall of financial and legal matters have halted their progress. Now all of a sudden, Agony Unrated appears on Steam without so much as an explanation.

At this time, the Steam page for Agony Unrated has been removed and netizens are instead greeted with a “Site Error” instead. This may have simply been a premature listing from Madmind or a hint that the team is hard at work in bringing the intended final product into the hands of the fans. The promised unrated version was intended as a separate release with the absence of a publisher in order to realize the full extent of their vision and promise to fans. It would include “additional erotic animations,” sounds, and various visuals that would add another layer of depth to gameplay. “Agony Unrated will be a separate title produced and published by Madmind Studio and without the involvement of any publishers,” Madmind Studios previously announced.

Since the retraction of Agony Unrated’s Steam listing, the studio has yet to reveal news through official channels. With that said, here’s to hoping Madmind Studios will be allowed to launch the promised content. What do you think about the complicated legal matters the team has been involved in?
