Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Single-Player Focus Explained By Respawn (VIDEO)
Respawn Entertainment has been knighted by Electronic Arts as the studio to develop the next game in the Star Wars universe. Earlier this month, the studio released a thrilling official reveal trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, highlighting the story’s main character Cal Kestis. Not only is he a force user trying to escape the piercing gaze of a purge, the new title will not feature microtransactions and will focus their energy on the single player experience.
Despite the focus on multiplayer gameplay in past entries such as Battlefront 2, Respawn Entertainment’s narrative lead, Aaron Contreras, explains why the studio decided to dedicate their skills to a single-player title. Contreras tells Inside Xbox:
When we look at Star Wars and we look at what people want out of a Jedi-focused game – it’s the story, it’s the battle of light and darkness, it’s falling in love with a character, and the setting in a world or worlds inside Star Wars and just going on an amazing adventure. And we felt we could best serve that demand with a single-player game that really just let players kind of immerse themselves inside Star Wars.”
Set after Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order allows players to develop their Force abilities, lightsaber techniques, and explore “ancient mysteries of a long-lost civilization” as Cal. As one of the few survivors of the Jedi Order, players must escape the threat of the inquisition. For more on that interview, check out the video below:
