New Nintendo Switch Models Receive More Details

New Nintendo Switch Models Details

You may remember a recent report, which can be found here, that claimed Nintendo was working on two new versions of the Nintendo Switch. One of them is reported to be on the lower end, while the other is aiming to be a high-end version of the portable console. That said, new sources have popped up to back up the initial report.

According to Eurogamer, their sources have “confirmed the report backs up what they have heard, too.” Essentially, Nintendo is looking to do with the Switch what they did with the 3DS, which eventually spawned two separate devices with the 2DS and New 3DS XL. The goal with the 2DS equivalent of the Nintendo Switch is to bring in the younger audience who may have gone with the cheaper option before.

In addition to this, the low-end Nintendo Switch will also feature a sturdy, more “kid-proof” design, but it also looks like the docking feature might be on the fence. According to Eurogamer’s sources, Nintendo is designing the low-end Switch with people who use the current iteration solely as a handheld device in mind.

As for the high-end Nintendo Switch, while it won’t be amounting to the likes of the PlayStation 4 Pro or the Xbox One X, it will receive some upgrades. However, these will be more akin to the New 3DS handheld’s upgrades over the original 3DS. In regards to the docking feature, there has been nothing said that this will be removed for the upgraded Switch.

Of course, Nintendo has yet to confirm any of this information, so we will have to wait until then to know for sure. That said, this is beginning to appear more and more likely, so we just might be getting two new Nintendo Switch models in the relatively near future.
