Metro Exodus Story Trailer Shows Brutal Struggle For Survival (VIDEO)
As Metro Exodus approaches, fans of the franchise theorize over the game’s plot. 4A Games and Deep Silver have kept most of the details under wraps to keep the hype train rolling. With just over a month until the release, they finally treated fans to a story trailer.
The hauntingly beautiful trailer shows a natural progression from previous franchise installments. Aboard the Aurora, the Spartan Order attempts to survive a grim post-apocalyptic world. However, Metro Exodus takes them from the ruins of Moscow into the desolate Russian wilderness. The journey outside of Moscow provides 4A Games the opportunity to show off their considerable talents. Each environment reinforces the Spartan’s isolation from other civilized groups. The carnage Artyom brings upon his foes reinforces the crew’s struggle for survival. We knew the gameplay would be intense, but the combat here exceeds that. It feels desperate, an amazing feat for a video game to pull off.
With the new surroundings come new villains, all twisted from the destruction of society. Factions of humans have turned to their base instincts in order to survive, and we see at least three such characters threatening our heroes in the trailer. Just as terrifying are the variety of mutant creatures, each with their own methods for attacking Artyom and his crew. While escaping Moscow provides the Spartan Order some hope, their journey into ravaged Siberia may cost them everything.
Here’s the description of Metro Exodus from 4A Games:
“Metro Exodus is an epic, story-driven first person shooter from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror in one of the most immersive game worlds ever created. Flee the shattered ruins of dead Moscow and embark on an epic, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in the greatest Metro adventure yet.
“Explore the Russian wilderness in vast, non-linear levels and follow a thrilling story-line inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky that spans an entire year through spring, summer and autumn to the depths of nuclear winter.”
Metro Exodus launches February 15 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Gamers prone to exploring will be excited to know the game debuts with a photo mode ready to go. If you’re as excited as we are for this title, consider pre-ordering the Spartan Collector’s Edition.
