The Last Of Us: Part II Multiplayer Will Include Character Customization, Purchasable Cosmetics
Sony’s E3 presentation last year was extremely enjoyable, thanks in no small part to the lengthy story and gameplay trailer for The Last of Us: Part II. Unfortunately, we haven’t learned too much since then, though a new job listing for developer Naughty Dog has revealed some interesting information about the multiplayer component within the game.
The news comes by way of a job listing on Linkedin, which calls for a Multiplayer Server Programmer for The Last of Us: Part II. While the description listed is pretty standard for the position, some of what is written points to extensive character customization options and purchasable in-game items. Check it out below:
We are looking for a server programmer who loves constructing a scalable, stable, and secure ecosystem of services for players to enjoy. You will usher them through the entire multiplayer experience, from first login, through matchmaking, and then granting rewards players can use to customize their characters in the store. As one of the caretakers of the live environment, you will be a critical part of the team that launches the game’s services.”
This isn’t a whole lot go to on, but at the very least it seems like Naughty Dog plans on doing a similar thing with the multiplayer as they did with both the original The Last of Us and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. As far as what we do know, it seems like Ellie will be in for one helluva ride when the game releases, likely later this year, for the PlayStation 4.
So, thoughts on the multiplayer aspect of The Last of Us: Part II? Plan on giving it a try, or are you only going into the game for the story?
