Bootleg Soulja Boy Game Console Prompts Nintendo To File Criminal Charges

There are many mainstream celebrities that have found themselves entangled in the affairs of the gaming industry, as evidenced by recent attempts made by Kanye West to meet up with Hideo Kojima. However, rapper Soulja Boy recently started an endeavor that aimed to Superman dat gaming industry like no other before.

Mr. Boy recently began selling a few gaming consoles that many pointed out are pre-existing bootleg devices with rebranded names that capitalize on the rapper’s success. However, it seems that Soulja Boy should not have cranked that, as these products have attracted criminal charges made by Nintendo themselves.

According to a report made by MTONews, Nintendo has sent a letter to the team of Soulja Boy indicating their intent to file criminal charges against Soulja Boy. One of them in particular, the Retro SouljaBoy Mini, bears a striking resemblance to Nintendo’s most iconic handheld system. It also happens to contain illegal copies of Classic Nintendo games, which puts it in likely violation of the Trademark Counterfeiting Act.

This is a serious matter, and if it is proven that the rapper is in violation, he will be hit hard by the Super Soaker of the law. The first offense of the TCA can lead to a sentencing of up to 10 years, and as many as 20 years upon repeat offenses. Soulja Boy has yet to comment on this move by Nintendo, but it would not be a surprise for Soulja Boy to see Robocop knocking on his door sometime soon.
