Adapting anime into live-action films and shows has been a practice for some time now, but many of you already know that it takes a lot to pull off something that fans will like. Cowboy Bebop will be no exception, as Netflix has announced a live-action series surrounding Spike Spiegel and gang.

Netflix took to Twitter to announce their Cowboy Bebop series. Not much was revealed, but we do know that creator Shinichiro Watanabe will be consulting on the project. In addition to this, Thor: Ragnarok co-writer Chris Yost is set to write the first episode of the live-action series.

When Keanu Reeves was attached to a live-action film as Spiegel back in the late 2000s, many seemed to be on board with the casting. Unfortunately, production fell through, with Reeves even saying, “Cowboy Bebop does not look like it is going to happen with me in it.” He did say that the script was “great and amazing,” but it was going to cost quite the pretty penny.

Even if Netflix has to throw all of the money at it, we can all only hope that it goes down as one of the best live-action adaptations of our time. There is no release date set for the Cowboy Bebop series, but keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as we learn more.
