Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: Legacy Of The First Blade DLC Trailer Launches (VIDEO)
The first domino falls in Ubisoft’s roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Today, they released a trailer for the smash hit’s first full-length DLC, Legacy of the First Blade. The DLC will be released in three chapters, and “Episode 1: Hunted” drops on December 4.
The trailer opens with Alexios doing typical Alexios things, dispatching a pair of Persian soldiers (Immortals, perhaps?). Interestingly, their masks match those of the Order of Ancients from Assassin’s Creed Origins. Out of nowhere, a hooded man leaps upon him with his sword, sending both warriors sprawling into an underground room. The man introduces himself by showing off his Hidden Blade, the trademark weapon of the Assassins.
It’s been a long time since Assassin’s Creed 2, but you may remember Ezio exploring the first blade-wielder’s tomb. That man was Darius I, son of Xerxes I, and now we see him in person. He’s nearing the end of his time as an Assassin, but he clearly still has some moves. Given the Persians and the timeframe, we may see him slay his own father, a historical rumor. Even more exciting, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey should give players the deep dive into the lore of the First Blade that they’ve been craving for years.
We then see the Persians raiding villages, slaughtering innocents and soldiers alike. Darius explains that they are hunting “the Tainted Ones,” which apparently includes the protagonist. The trailer shows off some excellent new armor and combat, a few of the new villains, an updated naval combat. Seriously, check out those flamethrowers on that boat. Historically accurate and devastating!
The video concludes with Alexios and Kassandra facing each other in their family villa. Darius warns the former that they will never be safe as long as they have family. Sure enough, a sinister voice demands that his subordinate “send everyone” to the home. Looks like we’ll be getting plenty of that promised Greek tragedy!
Ubisoft plans on launching the other DLC chapters six weeks apart. Episode 2: Shadow Heritage and Episode 3: Bloodline will lead into the Spring 2019 DLC, The Fate of Atlantis. Clearly, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has plenty more story for us to explore.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One now. The first episode for Legacy of the First Blade drops December 4. If you haven’t played the game yet, check out our full review here.
