Riot Games Documentary Coming Soon From Celebrated Filmmaker
Just recently, League of Legends studio Riot Games made headlines with widespread claims of sexism and sexual assault allegations, with the developer later issuing a statement revealing that there are “immediate and long-term actions planned” to alleviate the internal issues. While that isn’t much to go on, it appears that those that have a stake in the future of the company will be able to take a peek behind the curtain thanks to an upcoming documentary, which is being helmed by legendary filmmaker Leslie Iwerks.
Previously only known as the “Untitled Enterprise Documentary,” new details have finally surfaced about what fans can expect from what will likely be an eye-opening look at the goings-on behind the scenes at Riot Games. Thanks to the folks over at Slash Film, we now have a summary of what to expect from the film:
The documentary tells the story of the humble beginnings of what is now one of the biggest gaming companies in the world, and their vision to create not only a game, but a community. Featuring interviews from passionate fans, industry experts, and the creative visionaries behind the same, the documentary dives into the world of gaming, professional eSports players, fantastical characters, and more!”
The summary of the documentary is pointedly light on whether or not it will include anything regarding the sexual assault allegations that were recently made public. That said, Leslie Iwerks has been working on the film for the past two years, so chances are she’ll have something to say about the studio behind the game that has arguably the most toxic community of players in recent memory. For now we’ll have to wait and see, while in the meantime keeping an eye on any policy changes Riot Games makes public.
