Battlefield V Devs Assure Fans Big Maps Are Still Happening

Battlefield V

Battlefield V recently finished its open Beta where fans of the franchise were able to participate in matches across a selection of different maps and game modes. Fans of the franchise noticed that the maps presented in the Open Beta weren’t as big as they were hoping and began to worry that DICE was scaling down their overall size. Thankfully, the developers have stepped in to provide some peace of mind, stating that not only are they continuing to make big maps, but one in particular that will be particularly massive.

In response to the size opf the upcoming Battlefield’s map sizes, multiplayer designer Valerian Noghin shared an image on social media featuring  the map Hamada for the Breakthrough game mode. In the post he explains that the map will be immense in size, a total distance of 150 km from end to end. Noghin also added a view from in-game for scale which seems to look off into the distance forever.

Level Designer Jeff Gagné also stepped in to express that while it is easy to infer that the maps are smaller based on the the Open Beta, the game isn’t out yet and there’s more to the shooter than just the content featured in the testing phases. He asks that players stop assuming things based on small amounts of evidence, stating that they’re just getting started on sharing information with fans:

Map sizes aside, the developers did make a list of changes that would be made from the Beta, which they listed in a post on Reddit. Battlefield V is set to relive World War II on November 20th for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Are you excited to see what massive maps DICE has in store for players?
