Silent Hill Documentary Follows The Horror Series’ Rise And Fall (VIDEO)
Silent Hill is a franchise fondly remembered for its haunting and nightmarish setting, and its willingness to push the boundaries when it came to horror games. With a series so beloved for its macabre creativity, it’s a shame Konami saw fit to reduce the games into a lowly pachinko machine in recent years. The acclaimed horror saga wasn’t always this bleak, as a new Silent Hill documentary explains, the franchise had an interesting and successful history before it eventually reached its heartbreaking demise.
Chronicled by the team over at GVMERS, a new video titled The Rise and Fall of Silent Hill has given extensive perspective on the terrifying Silent Hill series. Detailed are the games’ origins on the PlayStation, its increasingly polished apex with Silent Hill 2 and 3, and the string of experimental follow-ups that never completely caught on with fans. The 36-minute tribute also presents coverage of the two Hollywood film adaptations as well as Hideo Kojima’s ill-fated contribution P.T. / Silent Hills. Check it out below.
However unfortunate the current dormancy of Silent Hill, love for the series has continued to live on in the modern day through the work of fans. Many have attempted to recreate the endlessly unnerving P.T. demo, while others have taken appreciation to new heights by uncovering hidden secrets in the games years after release. A few have gone even further with their creativity adapting new projects directly inspired by the ominous world of Silent Hill. Clearly, the world is not done with Silent Hill, and one can only hope Konami eventually realizes this demand with a worthwhile new entry.
