Super Mario Odyssey has been a huge hit with Nintendo Switch owners (some of us included), and fans of the famous mustached brothers’ most recent outing have been eager to try out what’s next for the game. The Super Mario Odyssey Balloon Mode has provided waves of new fun since it launched earlier this week, but a number of crafty players have found a way to completely break the experience for everyone.

For those who haven’t had the chance to check it out, Luigi’s Balloon World is essentially a game of hide-and-seek, where one player strategically hides balloons around the game and another player challenges themself to find them. While this is supposed to spark a fun bout of rivalry, some overly competitive players have been utilizing glitches to hide balloons inside level walls. Since most finders are oblivious to these exploits, this has made the challenge virtually impossible to complete.

As you can see from the video above, Dorkly editor Tristan Cooper is one of many players none too pleased with the exploited Super Mario Odyssey Balloon mode. The frustration is extremely present on Reddit where users are currently calling out the poor sportsmanship and warning other players of the potential annoyance. One player is going as far as to call for wall glitchers to be completely banned from participating in the balloon mode.

While banning may potentially get rid of some the game’s many party-poopers, Nintendo would probably be better off patching out the ability to use these opportune glitches in the first place. With all the online fervor surrounding the popular mode, hopefully it’s only a matter of time before Nintendo figures out a solution. Luigi’s Balloon World for Super Mario Odyssey is available now for Nintendo Switch.
