Report: Black Ops 4 Will Be This Year’s Call Of Duty Installment
We’ve now gotten through the first month of the new year, which means a Call of Duty announcement regarding 2018’s entry is imminent. Last year, analysts had predicted the arrival of a new Black Ops installment, but there was no telling where the franchise would turn its focus to following the release of WWII. However, if a recent report is to be believed, Black Ops 4 is indeed the next game in the series.
Word first broke when Marcus Sellars took to Twitter to disclose that not only is Black Ops 4 going to be released this year, but a port will also be coming to the Nintendo Switch, in addition to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. When Eurogamer caught wind of this, they stated that “multiple sources have confirmed” with them that the first part is true, but they are “still working to verify” the Switch details. Check out the original tweet below:
COD 2018 is Black Ops 4 and is coming to PS4/Xbox/PC/Switch. It is set in the modern times and is boots on the ground. The Switch version will support DLC, HD Rumble and motion controls. The Switch version is also being ported by a company which is familar with COD games.

After the disappointment the last futuristic CoD game was met with, it’s understandable that Treyarch would bring things back to the present. The Black Ops series has certainly seen its fair share of time-jumping, with the previous three titles being set in the Cold War, the not-too-distant future, and in 2065. Keeping things modern would likely bring more players back.
As it is with any rumor, be sure to keep the salt on-hand at all times. Until we receive official word from the developer or publisher, we just can’t be sure. Either way, late Spring is usually when they announce anything, so keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops. For other gaming news going on right now, check out the following:
