Beautiful EarthBound-Inspired Cookbook Smashes Its Kickstarter Goal
This one’s for all you EarthBound fans out there. A Kickstarter campaign for an EarthBound-inspired cookbook has been making its rounds on the internet ever since the campaign’s December 11, 2017 launch date. Titled ‘Mother’s Cookbook”, it is touted as “A professional fan-made EarthBound-inspired cookbook filled with original recipes, delicious nostalgia, and beautiful photography.” Having checked out the campaign ourselves, we couldn’t agree more. The Kickstarter campaign began with a humble goal of $10,000, though less than a month later the total dollars pledged is, at the time of writing, sitting at $33,479, over triple the original goal.
Written by Hillary Froemel, the cookbook features over 50 original recipes by Chef Bryan Connor, all of which are inspired by many of the memorable characters from EarthBound. The project itself drew in some serious talent, including professional artists and photographers. Fans looking to purchase the cookbook only have one more week to do so before the Kickstarter campaign comes to an end. $15 will net backers a digital copy of the book, $35 will get backers a paperback copy, and $45 backers will receive a hardcover copy of the book. The current estimated ship date for the cookbook is December 2018. Here’s the official outline of the book from the Kickstarter campaign:
EarthBound is a heartwarming and strange game that is impossible not to fall in love with. It’s a cult classic filled to the brim with memorable characters, constant pop culture references, and an overwhelming sense of charm. The wacky and sometimes outlandish food in the game struck a chord with many of its fans, us included. Who can forget Trout Yogurt?
Our goal is to capture this game’s unparalleled charm in a brand new package; a cookbook! Our book includes over 50 original recipes inspired by the game’s memorable characters, fantastical locations, and sometimes odd food items. This 8″ x 10″ cookbook will be available in hardcover, paperback, and digital form. We’re pulling some recipes straight from the game like Mammoth Burgers, Magic Cake, and Peanut Cheese Bars. However, we are also creating recipes inspired the game’s characters and locations such as New Age Retro Hummus, Tessie Watchin’ Stew, and Lier X. Agerate’s Famous Roasted Garlic Bread!”
