Fans of the “Gotta Catch em’ All” adorable monster hunting franchise have something to look forward to on their Augmented Reality mobile game as the Pokemon GO holiday event is now underway! Niantic is looking to get fans into the holiday spirit with a new winter-themed event on time for the cold weather and encroaching holidays. New Pokemon have entered the world among other bonuses players will get simply for playing the game.

The Pokemon GO holiday event will feature water and ice-type monsters originally found in Pokemon Sapphire and Ruby from the Gameboy Advance. Ice-type Pokemon will also be in abundance during the event, giving players a greater chance to catch these frozen creatures for the short time the event is taking place. Players will also get a free Egg Incubator for visiting a Pokestop once a day, Niantics’ way of giving something to the players for the holidays. As always, Pikachu in Santa Hat attire will also be part of the event.

This is the second Pokemon GO holiday event to take place for the popular mobile game. New creatures and features have definitely upped the ante this time around, giving players more reason to log in. This also follows suit with Niantics’ promise to continue to roll out new Pokemon for the game. The new Pokemon GO holiday event is already underway, so if you haven’t logged in for a while, now is the time! The event has a limited run, with an expected end date of January 4th, 2018. Special boxes will also be in the shop for what is left of today and on December 25th, 2017.
