Blizzard’s StarCraft II Will Be Going Free-To-Play Very Soon
BlizzCon 2017 has officially kicked off in Anaheim, California, bring the video game company together with players and fans from across the globe. With a plethora of announcements set to arrive during the convention, it is only appropriate that something new has been mentioned about Blizzard’s StarCraft II. It was revealed that the RTS title will be going free-to-play, and very soon at that.
While Blizzard Entertainment president and co-founder Mike Morhaime graced the stage with his presence, he made mention of the 2010 game continually receiving support from the company. After all, the title is arguably the grandfather of eSports, so it makes sense that it would keep chugging along after seven years. With the recent remastered release of the first StarCraft, it doesn’t seem like the franchise will be slowing down anytime soon.
Blizzard’s StarCraft II will be going free-to-play on November 14. It will contain the Wings of Liberty single-player campaign and give players entry into the multiplayer ladder. However, if you already own the solo campaign, you will receive the Heart of the Swarm expansion free of charge. If all of this isn’t awesome enough, they also announced a new co-op mission pack set to arrive in-game at a later date.
That leaves gamers with less than two weeks until they are able to enjoy StarCraft II for free, which is surely exciting for those who have waited to play the game. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming news, check out the following:
