Netflix Announces A Series of Unfortunate Events to Release in 2017 (VIDEO)
For those of us who grew up reading Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate events, there was quite a bit of excitement when in 2004 Paramount and Dreamworks released the first installment of the series as a film adaptation. Yet despite having such an all star cast, including but not limited to : Jim Carrey, Meryl Streep, and Billy Conolly to name a few, the film did not gain enough popularity to warrant a continuation of the series. But wait, fortunately for us, Netflix has determined that it may be worth another shot.
Netflix has announced by way of a teaser trailer that they are making A Series of Unfortunate Events into a Netflix Original Series. I’m not going to lie, for fans of the series this looks super exciting! It looks like we shall once more be able to follow the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the three Baudelaire children on screen thanks to the success of Netflix Originals.
After the loss of their parents in a mysterious fire, the three Baudelaire children face trials and tribulations attempting to uncover dark family secrets.
There has yet to be much information given as to how the show will be laid out but at this point we have been made aware that the vile and villainous Count Olaf will be debuted by none other than Doctor Horrible himself, Neil Patrick Harris! And if that doesn’t make you squeal like a little girl than you need to nerd out more… or you don’t have to I suppose but geez guys it’s NPH, come on! The cast also includes names such as Patrick Warburton, and Joan Cusack, among many other talented actors.
The show is set up at this time to be an 8 part series and all 8 episodes are scheduled to be released to Netflix by January 2017. So good news for us fans, that will give us something to look forward to! If you were or are a fan of the books, or the movie for that matter, let us know what you think! Also check out more fortunate new Netflix news as well!
