Who is Your Sebastian? – Evil Within 2 Players Will Enjoy a More Customizable Experience (VIDEO)

Fans universally lost their minds when the trailer first dropped announcing the return of the Evil Within franchise. The next step for the horror series, The Evil Within 2, will fill in some of the mysteries surrounding the first title and really let players dive into the mind of the protagonist Sebastian. A few changes are coming to the sequel, including a more in-depth narrative, and among them is that the developers behind the new game promise a more customizable experience for The Evil Within 2 players. Check out the video below to see Bethesda take center stage about their upcoming title:

This psychological thriller will put players back into the shoes of Sebastian Castellanos after he has lost everything, his daughter, his sanity, his … everything. What lengths will he go to to reclaim what he has lost and to “win back” his daughter? With a plot that continues to delve deeper into that of Castellano’s worst nightmare, what does this next step in the Evil Within world mean for gamers?

As seen in the video above, the developers talk about the different ways that the play-style can be enhanced for Sebastian both with his armory and his person. With the first title, players could use what was called Green Gel to customize him (within limits) and his gear but with The Evil Within 2, the weapons become their own separate entity that can be upgraded via weapon parts. Delving in deeper to tailor Sebastian to that of the player controlling his destiny, customization is doled out into five separate categories:

  • Health
  • Combat
  • Stealth
  • Recovery
  • Athleticism

Just like in similar titles, a player can choose to heavily invest in a few particular areas, leaving others weakened, or they can distribute points evenly for a more balanced run. Whether it be run and gun or a more stealthy approach, there is a way to invest into the style of the player’s choice to make the mechanics of the game feel more natural.

As far as the weapons go, parts can be stylized using in-game crafting to designate a specific style to both the weapons themselves as well as any ammunition used. Another feature would be to fully engage with his Communicator. This allows Sebastian the ability to become aware of different ways to go about a particular objective, which as the developers describe, allowing for a more immersive experience for Evil Within 2 fans.

The Evil Within 2 will be dropping on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on October 13th of this year – perfect timing for Halloween festivities. Will you be picking up the psychological thriller or are you a huge wimp like me when it comes to the horror gaming genre? Do you think the more detailed customization options will make for a better experience for Evil Within 2 players?
