Overwatch’s Mercy Gets a Minor Nerf to Her Ultimate in PTR (VIDEO)
As a Mercy main, the news of an undocumented nerf to her Ultimate ability in the Public Test Realm was a bit of a shock, but do not fret little ones! It only makes it impossible for her to revive teammates while still in the spawn area. This secret nerf was found by some players who ultimately started posting proof of the change online, one of which is a video posted by Reddit user chomz147 as seen below. Gamers can see that although her ultimate is ready, the icon is crossed out and unusable while inside of the spawn point until she steps just outside the doors.
Now, this really won’t affect gameplay all that much except on certain maps like Gibraltar, Anubis Point B, and Hanamura Point B. In these maps the spawn point is directly alongside the point of attack. Where before you could stay safely inside of the spawn area and still resurrect your teammates in a crunch, Mercy must now step out into the action before she can do anything.
According to the many players who have been testing this out, Mercy can not use her ultimate inside of the main spawn areas or the hallways leading out from them. That means on certain maps where you are in that limbo and can still be shot through the door, but the enemies can’t enter the doorway, players still cannot revive. You have to fully emerge from the spawn area. Other heroes can still use their ultimate abilities in these areas.
