Bethesda Has 5 More Projects Currently Underway, Including Two “Bigger” Games

At this time, there are 7 projects currently underway within the Bethesda Game Studios – two of which have been officially announced. During E3 2016, the company disclosed information regarding a complete virtual reality make-over for Fallout 4, and news on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for the Nintendo Switch console last month. Recently, Bethesda director for Skyrim and Fallout 4, Todd Howard discussed upcoming goals for the developing team concerning mobile gaming, especially following the success of Fallout Shelter app. In an interview with IGN, Howard sheds some light on current Bethesda works.

“So some of those things are obviously of different scales,” Howard told IGN in reference to the mobile market. “We’re always doing a lot of things, and once we get a good momentum on something, that’s what we’ll focus on.

Clarifying the status and goals for Fallout 4 VR, he indicates that the team is doing their best to keep the most important aspects of the game. “There’s no content that we removed or changed [for VR]. It’s interface work, it’s other things,” Howard mentioned. “There are issues with locomotion, how you traverse that much space, and we’re hoping to support as many modes as possible…it’s not done yet, there’s work to do, but the parts that are there, I’m biased, but it’s pretty incredible.”

There are two other undertakings within the Bethesda Game Studios, according to the Bethesda director, which are “bigger than anything we’ve done”. The projects aim to be different, but not too far-fetched considering the types of titles the developer is known for. For those hoping for an Elder Scrolls 6 – you may be waiting quite some time before any inkling of that hits the streets.

In other news, Bethesda announced just a couple weeks ago that a Morrowind expansion is coming to The Elder Scrolls Online. It is expected to release June 6th, 2017 for all major platforms including PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. There are Collector’s Editions available for pre-order.

What are you expecting the other 5 projects to be, aside from the hint toward more mobile game development? What are you hopes for Fallout 4 VR?
