After months of speculation and unofficial leaks, Battlefield 2042 was finally unveiled as the next iteration of DICE’s long-running Battlefield series. Though the upcoming shooter aims to introduce a number of franchise firsts and intriguing new modes to the proceedings, it looks like the new entry is also bringing with it a slightly more expensive price point for next-gen versions on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

As per a recent edition listing from EA, the Standard Edition of Battlefield 2042 was confirmed to cost $69.99 USD for versions available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This is a full $10 increase above the standard $59.99 enjoyed by PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions of the game, not to mention most modern AAA releases these days. Though the base version doesn’t come with any extras, pre-ordering will net owners early access to the game’s open beta, along with a number of in-game perks, including:

• Baku ACB-90 Epic Melee Takedown Knife
• “Mr. Chompy” Epic Weapon Charm
• “Landfall” Player Card Background and “Old Guard” Tag

Though $70 might already be a steep ask for next-gen, even more goodies are available as part of the Gold Edition of Battlefield 2042. For the price of $99.99 USD for consoles ($89.99 USD for PC), this collection offers all the aforementioned extras as well as early access to the game’s launch, cross-gen compatibility for PlayStation or Xbox, and the Year 1 Pass, which guarantees 4 New Specialists, 4 Battle Passes, 3 Epic Skin Bundles. In all, Gold Edition pre-orders include:

Added perks include the Midnight Ultimate Bundle, which doles out a particularly spiffy black armor DLC; as well as a digital artbook and exclusive soundtrack for the upcoming title.
