Ghost Of Tsushima Movie In The Works From John Wick Director
The legion of fans that thought that Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima would make for an excellent live-action movie are about to get very, very excited. It’s been announced that Ghost of Tsushima is in fact getting a live-action movie adaptation, to be helmed by long-time John Wick director Chad Stahelski.
As reported by Deadline, Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions have entered into an agreement with 87Eleven Entertainment to bring Ghost of Tsushima to the big screen, with Chad Stahelski attached to direct. “We’re excited to be partnering with Chad and 87Eleven Entertainment, to bring their vision of Jin’s story to the big screen,” said Asad Qizilbash, Head of PlayStation Productions. “We love working with creative partners like Chad, who have a passion for our games, ensuring we can create rich adaptations that will excite our fans and new audiences.”
The film will directly adapt the story from Ghost of Tsushima, which follows samurai Jin Sakai in his fight to wage war against the Mongolian invasion led by Khotun Khan. Here’s the official description of the game from Sucker Punch Productions:
The year is 1274. Samurai warriors are the legendary defenders of Japan—until the fearsome Mongol Empire invades the island of Tsushima, wreaking havoc and conquering the local population. As one of the last surviving samurai, you rise from the ashes to fight back. But honorable tactics won’t lead you to victory. You must move beyond your samurai traditions to forge a new way of fighting—the way of the Ghost—as you wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Japan.”
