Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition Announced For PC

Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition Announced For PC

The first two games in the popular Metro video game series have each been re-released as ‘redux’ titles meant to unify the trilogy in terms of gameplay and visuals. In keeping with this tradition it’s been revealed that Metro Exodus is also getting a re-release, though this time around it’ll be as an ‘enhanced edition’ for PC and not as a redux.

Metro publisher 4A Games has officially announced the Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition, which will be free for those that already own the game on PC. According to the blog post, the new enhanced version will feature additional Ray Tracing features including Advanced Ray Traced Reflections and support for DLSS 2.0 (NVIDIA hardware only). Given the extensiveness of the upgrade, the enhanced edition will operate separately from the base game and as such will need to be downloaded on its own. Those looking to bump themselves up to the Enhanced Edition should keep in mind that, at minimum, it will require a Ray Tracing-capable GPU and a beefy PC in order to run.

It’s not all bad news for console owners, though, as 4A Games also detailed what to expect from the upcoming ‘Upgrade’ version of Metro Exodus for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Releasing later this year, the free upgrade brings with it 4K resolution at 60FPS and will feature full Ray Traced lighting for both PS5 and Xbox Series X. Reduced load times will also be available due to SSD storage optimizations, as will spatial audio and controller latency improvements for Xbox and haptic feedback features for those playing on PS5 with the DualSense controller. While Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition is considered to be separate from the upgraded console versions, the only difference between them is the inclusion of Advanced Ray Traced Reflections and DLSS 2.0 support for PC.

There’s currently no word on an official release date for both the Enhanced Edition and the free console upgrades, though 4A promises that it’ll be at some point later this year.
