Minecraft Servers Are Not Shutting Down
Not all rumors are made equal. In a recent “report,” word began circulating of Mojang’s impending shut down of Minecraft servers. With more than ten years to their name, this sandbox adventure has become a cult classic among gamers of all ages and backgrounds. An unprecedented announcement of shut-down was already suspicious to begin with, but troubled hearts can go ahead and rest easy. The rumors aren’t real.
Word initially spread thanks to a prank generator site called Channel 45, known to incite clicks with attention-grabbing headlines and a believable report within. So, no, Mojang is not shutting down Minecraft servers. This is what the fake publication originally declared to the public:
“Mojang has announced on their Twitter that Minecraft will shut down their servers on December 21st, 2020,” according to Channel 45. “The founder, Markus Alexji Persson, known as ‘Notch,’ says that he feels like 11 years was enough for the game’s period and it should say it’s farewells and leave the stores when the end of 2020 hits, according to his interview.
“Minecraft became a smash hit and took over Fortnite in half a month in popularity. It has been gaining more and more players the more days that passed on, and when the clock strikes midnight and when the day reaches the 21st of December of 2020, the game will say its goodbyes and thank them for the memories they gave and received for more than a decade.”
In other words, the above statement is not real. Unless otherwise noted by Mojang, feel free to leave this rumor in 2019. Thanks for the heads up, Prima Games!
