Marvel’s Avengers Dev Explains Why Ms. Marvel Is The Game’s Best Melee Character
Late last week, Square Enix announced that Kamala Khan – AKA Ms. Marvel – was not only the sixth playable character in Marvel’s Avengers, but also the focal point of the game’s story. The news came via a gameplay trailer unveiled at New York Comic Con, wherein it was revealed that Khan gained her superpowers from the gas she inhaled during the events of A-Day. Now, developer Crystal Dynamics has gone on to claim that Kamala Khan is being considered by some to be the best melee character in the game, despite the notable presence of both the Hulk and Thor.
Crystal Dynamics lead combat designer Vince Napoli recently took to the official Marvel’s Avengers Twitter account to speak about the niche Kamala Khan fills in combat, revealing that her stretchy powers gives makes her an extremely powerful mid-range melee fighter. Check the thread below:
Kamala Kahn has spent her whole life idolizing the Avengers, but she’ll need to learn to embrace her own polymorph powers as she sets off to reassemble them. pic.twitter.com/DNar46XrpE

“Kamala’s move set allows her to create some of the most dynamic attack arcs imaginable, making her one of, if not the most formidable mid-range melee fighters in the game.”

Per Napoli, Kamala Khan’s powers provides her with a diverse moveset that enables her to dominate her enemies in a way no other mid-range melee fighter within the game can. We’ll certainly be seeing more character reveals as we get closer to the game’s release date, but for now, Kamala Khan reigns supreme.
Marvel’s Avengers releases on May 15, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
