Gaming in 4k? Microsoft’s Project Scorpio is All About it

Microsoft Studios Publishing general manager Shannon Loftis did an interview with USA Today in which she discussed various upcoming titles for the Xbox One as well as discussed Project Scorpio. Project Scorpio is the upgraded version of the Xbox One that is dubbed by its creators as “the most powerful gaming console ever”. The new hardware is set to release in 2017, which will rival the PS4 Pro from Sony.

While discussing Project Scorpio with USA Today, Loftis stated they are aiming to make big improvements to visual quality of console gaming.

Any games we’re making that we’re launching in the Scorpio time frame, we’re making sure they can natively render at 4K.

Based on this information, gamers can’t wait to see the specifications on this hardware because there must be real power behind it. However, it is still to be determined if Microsoft will be able to achieve this goal of 100% 4K rendering as this is a big undertaking at this current time. Luckily, they are about a little more than a year out from releasing Project Scorpio so it very well may be accomplished.

In addition to the 4K visual improvement, we also know that Project Scorpio will be VR compatible and it will be interesting to see how they explore that realm. Additionally, fans wait in anticipation to see how will they tie the two technologies together so that you are doing virtual reality in 4K Graphics.
