343 Industries Hint at Halo Wars 2 DLC and Reveals Information on an Upcoming “Large” Patch

Halo Wars 2 DLC

343 Industries is coming from the wood works and announcing everything players and fans want to hear. Bonnie Ross recently announced the comeback of split screens to the well-known franchise, after the unfortunate omission in Halo 5: Guardians. Now, they want the community to know that the work is far from over. By providing information on the upcoming Halo Wars 2 DLC, they are hoping to instill more hope and trust. This may be due, in part, by the fact that the game just debuted last week, but it might offer some peace of mind. Then again, these are the steps most would expect from such a renown studio.

Just because the game has launched doesn’t mean the work is done. In fact, very far from it, as the Creative Assembly and 343 teams are hard at work on upcoming patches as well as future downloadable content,” wrote 343’s SKE7CH.

Starting in March, players will be introduced to a new leader named Kinsano. There will be new additions every third Wednesday of a month for season pass holders, including the before mentioned character. In the future, unique units and leaders can be expected, as well as additional campaign missions for “Operation: Spearbreaker”. More details of upcoming Halo Wars 2 DLC will be uncovered during a PAX East panel this year.

Concerning the upcoming “large patch” for Halo Wars 2, there will be a bunch of bug fixes and upgrades coming to the systems and game itself, especially significant errors widely reported by players. Some of these problems include “online connectivity, latency and performance issues”. Of course, the developers welcome dialogue and feedback on the forums.

Beyond issue resolution and fixes the design team is also eager to monitor player feedback and game data to assess overall balance and mechanics with Halo Wars 2. If you’d like to share your thoughts specifically on design aspects of the game you’ll find official threads for Campaign, Multiplayer, and Blitz feedback in the Halo Wars 2 game forum.”

On that roster of changes, include the implementation of anti-cheats during 1 on 1 games. Some players have been utilizing a loophole where you can destroy your own base and receive 600 experience points. Unfortunately, for some, that will no longer be possible. “The game UI will show that you’ve received the XP but in reality, you didn’t,” wrote the developer. “So doing this will not only net you no real reward it will also ruin the fun for the person you’re matching against while also inaccurately skewing player skill ratings as well.”

While a designated date for the patch has not yet been revealed, the estimated time of arrival is sometime this week. What do you think of 343 Industries recent approach to their Halo franchise?
