Telltale Games Finds New CEO in Former Zynga Vice President
Telltale, the developer bind popular games like The Walking Dead, Minecraft Adventures, Batman: The Enemy Within, and Game of Thrones, has had its share of ups and downs with CEOs in recent years. Dan Connors has been in and out of the seat since 2015, his last position being temporary. The company, looking for a permanent solution, turned to former Zynga Vice President and GM Pete Hawley as the new Telltale CEO.
Hawley has been with Zynga since 2014, helping manage the mobile and social media gaming company. Prior to his position at Zynga, he spent time with Lionhead (Fable) from the early 90’s to early 2000’s. From there he spent a few years with Sony (03-05) and then had a five-year stint with EA among other co-founding and managing positions. His experience will likely make him a solid leader for the company who has their hands on some wildly popular IP’s. Here’s what the new Telltale CEO had to say about the position:
It’s quite an honor to join the team. I’ve been a huge fan since Telltale reinvented the old LucasArts games. Now it is working with some of the biggest intellectual properties in the world. It was too good an opportunity to pass up.”
Hawley takes on his new Telltale CEO role on September 18th and will already be walking into a few big titles to manage. The Wolf Among Us follow-up is already in the works. On top of this, the Game of Thrones game is also in the works making a full plate for him to tackle. Time will tell whether or not his experience in social media and mobile games will make a difference, however, according to the interview he has no intention of wrecking the standards Telltale has set.
Will the new Telltale CEO make the company even better than it already is? How do you think he did as the former Zynga Vice President? Join in on the conversation in the comment section below! Don’t forget to follow DFTG on Twitter for live gaming and entertainment news 24/7!
