Xbox Series S Release Date Officially Confirmed (VIDEO)

Xbox Series S

After speculation spanning the past several months, Microsoft has finally confirmed the existence of the Xbox Series S, doing so with a spiffy price and design reveal for the upcoming console. Touted as the “smallest Xbox ever” with considerable next-gen capabilities, the console is being positioned as a scaled-down iteration of the upcoming Xbox Series X with a different look, price, and specifications to mirror this concept. Microsoft last teased fans with the imminent arrival of even more details and it appears they’ve delivered with the reveal of an official release date.

As shown off in the trailer below, the Xbox Series S is currently set for launch on November 10th – nearly two months from now at the time of writing. This big unveiling also came with confirmation about the hardware’s “next-gen performance,” with the footage confirming features such as custom 512GB NVME SSD storage, 1440p/120FPS capabilities, as well as DirectX-powered ray-tracing for the all-digital device. Many of these features are similarly available with the main Series X console, though, somewhat downgraded to achieve the approachable price point of $299 USD.

This glossy launch trailer debuted after quite a few leaks spilled the beans about the console’s announcement, with the Series S’ aforementioned appearance and features laid out for all to see online. However, it appears that while even the above trailer was also spoiled early, it seems Microsoft took it upon themselves to add a concrete release date to the finale, with the previous footage touting the vague window of November 2020. As “November” is currently slated as the release month for the mainline Series X, it’s possible we’ll see an official date announcement revealed for that console sometime soon – perhaps even on the same date as the Series S.
