Latest Xbox One Update Brings Dolby Atmos

Xbox One Dolby Atmos

Owners of the Xbox One can now experience the glorious sound quality of Dolby Atmos thanks to the latest update for the popular console. Those that have the upgraded Xbox One S have already had the feature, but now all Xbox One gamers can enjoy the eargasms.

Microsoft’s very own Major Nelson made the announcement via Twitter. The announcement also contains the instructions required to take advantage of the feature. To experience Dolby Atmos, gamers will have to first reboot their console after updating, then head to the Blu-ray settings page. From there, select the “Let my receiver decode audio” option. Major Nelson included a visual representation along with his post, which can be seen below:

Don’t be alarmed by the method of activating the feature. Once activated, players will be able to enjoy superb audio while watching videos as well as doing what the Xbox was designed to do: playing video games. To get the full benefits, it is recommended that the console be integrated within the user’s surround sound systems. This will bring three dimensional sound to living rooms, gaming caves, or wherever players designate their gaming areas. Imagine sitting in a sweet gaming chair while playing Mass Effect: Andromeda with Dolby Atmos providing audio immersion of a galaxy undiscovered by mankind. It will sound like those big, bad aliens are hiding behind the living room walls.

Microsoft’s Xbox division continues to improve an already great console. The constant updates on the already manufactured consoles as well as the Xbox Scorpio’s specifications prove that the company continues to strive to create the best console gaming experience possible. With this year’s E3 just around the corner, expect to see a lot more Xbox news right here at Don’t Feed the Gamers.
