Mass Effect: Andromeda Offers a System for Weapon Crafting and Naming

If you are an RPG (Role Playing Game) nut, and most of us at DFTG are, then it is probably safe to say that you thoroughly enjoy in-game crafting systems for weapons and such. Good news from the developers of the next chapter of the Mass Effect legacy, it looks like there will be a weapon crafting system in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Let the Hype train commence!

Ian Frazier, the lead designer for Mass Effect: Andromeda, confirmed via Twitter that the new game will include a weapon crafting system. Not only will players be able to craft weapons but it looks like you’ll be able to name your weapons as well. That’s some exciting stuff right there, I mean who doesn’t want to run around a new galaxy slaying baddies with a Hammer named “Mr. Fluffy.”

Oh right, did I forget to mention? Yeah it looks like we’re gonna get melee weapons too. *Insert Krogan  laughter here* According to Ian’s “Pro Tip”, it appears that among the vast arsenal of the Mass Effect universe, the ‘Krogan-style hammer’ at the very least will be an exciting new addition opening up all sorts of fun options for a varied play-style.

When asked about the possibility of the incorporation of melee weapons outshining or even replacing the novelty of the signature Omni-Tool and Biotic heavy melees, Frazier responded with a form of ‘you’ll have to wait and find out.’ Classic “I’m not telling you what I got you for your birthday” maneuver!

So it looks like a melee play-style might very well be an enjoyable option in the up coming Mass Effect: Andromeda, which is exciting for people who prefer an up close and personal challenge (lookin’ at you Vanguard players). At this time, we’ll have to wait and see what kind of juicy details we’ll get further down the road.
