Confirmed: All 1200 Characters Will Be Fully Voiced in Upcoming Divinity: Original Sin 2
We’re getting closer! The Divinity: Original Sin 2 title is almost ready for launch here in September and the company behind the game knows just how to make fans just a little more excited for the upcoming release. Larian Studios has confirmed that all 1,200, yes – all of them, characters throughout the game will be fully voiced during the game. That’s a lot of voices! The studio is leaving no character unvoiced, and that includes every single NPC no matter how big, or how small.
The cast itself is already impressive. BioWare fans especially will be happy to see some of their fan favourites behind the voices with actors from both the Mass Effect and the Dragon Age franchises. The team actually boasts that there are so many different voices and so many different stories to tell, that there is no way for a player to hear them all in just one simple playthrough. Time to bust out those gaming sweat pants, it’s going to be a long night!
Divinity: Original Sin 2 has a script that is not one meant for light reading with over one million words, and over 74,000 lines to be covered! Do they have 1,200 people to play the part? No, which is per usual, but they do have over 80 actors that were ready to take on their roles. The team also talked a little bit about “cheese vendoring” – which is when an NPC spams the same line over and over. The extensive script and attentive voice-over work essentially eliminates the risk of said “cheese vendoring” taking the immersion to an all new level.
Original Sin 2 arrives on PC on September 14th, are you ready? What are your thoughts on the title so far? Excited to see how they made this franchise even bigger and better?
